About the event

Did you know that  Governor Dick is home to several Paw Paw groves? Paw Paw fruit is the  largest fruit native to the United States, and is a tropical-tasting  fruit similar to a cross between a banana and a mango. Ripening through late August and all of September, sometimes the fruits grow abundantly,  and sometimes not-so-much. Come out and join us as we go for a Paw Paw hunt and explore together the beauty of the early fall!

We will meet in the parking lot at the Clarence Schock Environmental Center, and will hike the short distance (less than 1/4 mile) to forage for Paw Paws. When we are done, those who wish to return to their cars may; and those who wish for a more substantive hike may climb the hill up to the Governor Dick Observation Tower (roughly 3 miles round trip).

Please dress for the weather and bring water and a lunch or hearty snack. We will take this hike at a gentle pace and stop frequently for times of reflection and connection.
